Around My French Table

around my french table

I am so excited about this new book! I had the pleasure of meeting Dorie at a cooking class she did this week at Central Market. The food was fantastic and Dorie was very charming. We got to hear a few Julia Child stories and ate a lovely meal featuring an unforgettable Salmon Rillette, which I was craving so much after that I had to make it at home immediately. I can not wait to dive into this book and make every single recipe.

Spanish Tortilla

Flowers-Tortilla-10.6.10

I have made this Spanish Tortilla a few times before. It is super easy to put together and great if you love potatoes like me. It's basically potatoes & onions sauteed until brown, then you add them to a mixture of eggs and milk seasoned with salt and pepper. Maybe add a little smoked paprika and garlic. Add it all to a clean pan with a little oil and butter and let it cook through. Chorizo and feta make great additions on top. I could eat this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And I did.

Salted Almond Brittle

Recipe adapted from Epicurious.

I used almonds, kosher salt, and maple syrup in place of the corn syrup in the recipe. This addictive salty sweet brittle is delicious on it's own or with a cheese plate.

Cardamom Spiced Lemon Cake

Cake_Pair-1DSC_0276

Lemon cake recipe from Martha Stewart. Local pomegranate seeds were added for a little fruitiness to complement the tart lemon and fig leaves from the backyard for decoration.
